1 – What is Botox used for?

In cosmetic surgery, Botox is used to fade wrinkles and to delay their appearance. Forehead lines and crows’ feet wrinkles form as a result of the movement of facial muscles. Some wrinkles are more visible depending on the facial expressions one makes. Botox relaxes the facial muscles and this reduces wrinkling.

2 – What is the difference between Botox and hyaluronic acid?

Botox and Hyaluronic acid are two complementary cosmetic treatments. One cannot replace the other. Hyaluronic acid treats the symptom, the wrinkle, by filling it. Botox treats the cause of the wrinkle, the muscles that lead to the formation of wrinkles. The two are therefore necessary and complement each other.

3 – How are Botox injections given?

Botox injections are given at the practice in the centre of Paris. The procedure takes a few minutes. The injection sites and the amounts to be injected are very precise and a very good knowledge of facial anatomy is indispensable.

4 – What specific precautions need to be taken after Botox injection?

After the injection you should not rub or massage the treated area. You must contract the muscles of the treated area for the first hour following the injection. You should also avoid lying down and leaning forward.

5 – After how long are the effects of Botox visible?

It is necessary to wait a few days to notice a difference. After 2 to 4 weeks the lines and wrinkles are faded and the full effect of Botox is clearly visible.

6 – Can Botox treatment be repeated?

On average Botox treatment lasts 6 months. Sometimes this can be as long as 12 months. With time the facial muscles relax and the patient looses the habit of muscle movement that leads to the formation of wrinkles. When this happens the frequency of Botox treatment can be reduced.

7 – Who can administer Botox treatment?

In France, cosmetic Botox treatment is strictly regulated, as it requires excellent knowledge of facial anatomy. Cosmetic surgeons, dermatologist, face and neck surgeons and maxillofacial surgeons are all authorized to give Botox treatment.

8 – What are the risks inherent to Botox treatment?

Performed by a certified plastic surgeon or a qualified health professional, Botox treatment is considered a sure act of aesthetic medicine. Like in all medical acts complications are possible but rare. 9 – At what age should Botox treatment be begun?

There is no official age to start Botox treatment. As soon as the first expression wrinkles appear, small doses of Botox can have a preventive effect and check the formation of deep wrinkles and lines on the face. As a result signs of aging will be less visible on the face.

10 – How much does Botox treatment cost?

The rates for Botox treatment depend on the zone to be treated and what needs to be done. As an indication, the fee for a Botox injection starts at 290 euros.
