1 – What is a mini facelift?

A mini facelift is relatively new technique for younger looking skin with very little trace.

2 – How long does the operation take?

A mini facelift takes from about 1.5 hours to 2 hours.

3 – What is the length of the stay at the clinic for a mini facelift?

A mini facelift is an ambulatory, same day procedure; a one-night stay may be necessary depending on the extent of the surgery.

4 – Is mini facelift surgery painful?

The mini-facelift is considered to be uncomfortable rather than painful. Any discomfort that follows can easily be controlled using mild painkillers like Doliprane or slightly stronger pain medication for about 48 hours.

5 – Is it possible to do a mini-facelift under local anaesthesia?

If very little needs to be done then the mini-facelift can be done under local anaesthesia. Often it is more comfortable for the patient to be under general anaesthesia in which case the patient does not feel anything during the procedure.

6 – Is it possible to have Botox injections at the same time as the mini-facelift?

Yes a mini-facelift can be combined with Botox injections. The injections will complete the mini-facelift in that they will be used to give a youthful look to the forehead while the mini-facelift does the same to the lower part of the face.

7 – What scars result from the mini-facelift procedure?

The current mini-facelift procedures result in minimal scarring. The scar begins in the temporal hair area and extends downward in the crease just in front of the ear. Sometimes the incision can extend behind the earlobe or slightly behind the ear. There is usually no other scar which is one of the main advantages the mini-facelift has over the normal/standard facelift.

8 – Does the mini-lift of the lower face give a natural youthful appearance?

Yes it does and this is the main goal of the procedure when the signs of aging are just beginning to show. The repositioning and tightening of the skin and soft tissue structures of the face must be done with care using the SMAS technique to ensure natural looking and lasting results.

9 – What is the recovery time from a mini-facelift?

Recovery time is short, making this procedure quite attractive. At the beginning, there will some swelling and bruising which go down with time and most patients have very little left five days after the operation.

10 – How much does the mini-facelift cost?

The fees for a mini-facelift vary depending on the how much needs to be done, whether or not blepharoplasty and/or Botox injections will be associated to the procedure, mode of anaesthesia among other factors. Very high quotes on one hand do not necessarily guarantee the best results and suspiciously low quotes on the other hand should incite caution. It is of utmost importance to always verify the qualifications and competences of the plastic surgeon, his titles, his cv, his certification by the board, his ability to practice, what post operation care is included in his quote (who by, where, for how long…). Plastic surgery is strictly regulated in France.
